Spending quality time together is an important - and much needed - part of any relationship. And what better excuse to pencil in some one-on-one time than Valentine’s Day? Especially when a massage is involved…This simple, DIY essential oil recipe is the perfect way to connect with your partner on an emotional and physical level.
Here’s what you need:
- 4 oz. of coconut oil (or any carrier oil such as grapeseed oil, sweet almond oil, olive oil, etc.)
- 12-15 drops 100% pure essential oils. Choose oils that promote intimacy like sandalwood, vanilla (aphrodisiac!) and jasmine.
- 1/4 teaspoon vitamin E oil (optional)
- Dark or amber glass container (to protect the aromatic and therapeutic properties of the oils)
Instructions
Use a funnel to fill the container with the carrier oil, then add the essential oils and vitamin E. Screw the lid onto the bottle and gently shake it up to mix the essential oils with the carrier oil. Use generously on any part of the body.
Choosing your oils
Personalize the experience by choosing scents that complement your massage goals. Looking to relax and calm sore muscles after a long day at work? Stick to powerful aromas like eucalyptus, peppermint, lavender, basil and rosemary. Maybe you want to spice things up? Scents like bergamot, jasmine and ylang ylang (if you like that tingly sensation) promote intimacy and set the mood for sexy time. Tip: no matter the scent, make sure to always use quality 100% pure essential oils in your blend.
For some extra romance, add your homemade blend to a bubble bath, diffuser or even mix with two pumps of lotion for a creamier massage oil.
